Up-out, down-in

I was issued a parking citation two nights ago. It wasn't that I didn't have my parking permit, it wasn't that I was parking at a non-parking zone. It was simply that I didn't turn my wheel towards the curb.

This is my second parking ticket issued in two months and the first one was because I didn't place enough coins in the parking meter. Actually I did. But I had placed just enough to zip in an out of a shop that I was going to make a purchase at. But guess what? The item was not on the shelf. The guy at the shop had to go back to the store to check out whether he had stock. Nine mins whizzed by. When I got back to the car, sitting on the wind screen wiper waiting for me was the ticket. I was late by three minutes.

I actually wrote in to explain what happened. But they were tough on the decision. The law states that as long as any vehicle is parked at a lot, the meter cannot be expired. Since I already know how strict they can get, I shouldn't bother with the letter of explanation.

So here's a diagram of what I should do if I were in the same situation again, which I will definitely be in again since I'm living on a hill.
This is definitely one lesson that I'll learn real quick! On a different note, there should be more donut shops in South Pasadena! :O)
